The mission of HealthStream’s Continuing Education Program is to improve the public health by educating the healthcare community, maintain an unwavering commitment to the quality of our activities and generate positive patient outcomes.  HealthStream achieves this mission by providing practicing healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver high quality patient care in an ever-changing medical environment.

National Accreditation Statuses

ACCME

HealthStream is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

ANCC

HealthStream is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

ACPE

HealthStream is approved by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) as a provider of Continuing Pharmaceutical Education.

AST

HealthStream is accredited by the Association of Surgical Technologists to provide continuing education for surgical technologists.

Nursing State Providerships

HealthStream is a state board-approved provider of nursing CE by the following organizations:

California Board of Registered Nursing
Florida Board of Nursing
Iowa Board of Nursing
West Virginia State Board of Examiners for Registered Professional Nurses

HealthStream also offers continuing education opportunities for other healthcare audiences such as respiratory therapists, radiologic technologists, and sterile processing & environmental services personnel.

Types of Educational Formats

The HealthStream CE Program is comprised of the following types of educational formats:

  • Interactive lectures, symposia and workshops
  • Case-based and problem-solving group sessions
  • Live interactive web casts
  • Hands-on skills development laboratory sessions
  • Enduring materials including print monographs, video, online and CD-ROM
  • Directly sponsored activities and activities jointly sponsored with non-accredited educational organizations.
  • Other educational formats as they emerge based on new uses of technology.

Expected Results of the Program

As a result of our educational activities, HealthStream contributes to the continuing professional development of healthcare professionals by offering an array of activities to assist in expansion of knowledge and skill, implementation of new treatments, or validation of efficacy of current clinical practice. HealthStream is committed to assessing the impact of its CE Program effectiveness through:

  • Post-activity evaluation that measures immediate participant reaction, learning, and/or attitudes about behavior change. 
  • Follow-up outcome measurements, when feasible, to determine changes in practice behaviors resulting from CE participation.
