DEVELOP CRITICAL CARE NURSES FASTER
Combine Didactic and Practical Education to Prepare Trainees for Clinical Responsibilities

Critical care nurse trainees need the right combination of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in order to be successful in clinical practice. Adult Critical Care Orientation from the Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) has been recognized by Sigma Theta Tau for its innovative and creative approach to learning. The course builds on a core didactic component with a clinical practicum based on the preceptor model. The clinical practicum is essential for reinforcing conceptual knowledge and preparing novice nurses to work in the Critical Care unit. This course also offers trainees a Virtual Center of Best Practices for evidence-based research abstracts, national protocols, and clinical practice guidelines. The Adult Critical Care course is unique because of the way these three components work together to deliver a well-rounded, comprehensive educational experience.
