Course Description:
EMS professionals often encounter situations where domestic violence has occurred. This course defines domestic violence, discusses the cycle of abuse, and provides assessment and intervention strategies to assist the EMS professional in providing appropriate care to victims.

Learning Objectives:
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

• Define domestic violence.
• Describe the cycle of violence.
• Evaluate the situation for potential violence, given a scenario.
• Identify presenting complaints that should raise the index of suspicion for abuse, given a scenario.
