Course Description: Some degree of shock can accompany any medical emergency. This course will explain the components and functions of blood and the consequential capillary-cellular relationship for a patient in shock, describe the pathophysiology in the developmental stages of shock, and formulate a plan for assessment and management of a patient in shock.
Learning Objectives: Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to: - Describe shock, outlining the factors necessary to achieve adequate tissue oxygenation.
- Explain the components and functions of blood and the consequential capillary-cellular relationship for a patient in shock.
- Describe the pathophysiology in the developmental stages of the various types of shock.
- Formulate a plan for assessment and management of a patient experiencing shock.
