Module 3: Fetal Heart Monitoring: Management of Uterine Activity and Labor - Nurses

Course Description:
This case-based branching module allows learners to manage four different clinical scenarios based around the management of uterine activity in labor. The outcome of each case will be determined by the choices the learner makes, and each case is followed by a spotlight on an issue related to uterine activity management.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this online activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Analyze uterine activity generated from external tocodynamometry and/or an IUPC.
  • Recognize patterns of uterine dysfunction that occur spontaneously, during cervical ripening or that evolve during induction/augmentation of labor.
  • Identify clinical interventions that may be utilized to manage uterine dysfunction.
