Fetal monitoring poses a huge potential problem to hospitals across the country. Incorrect and even correct pattern recognition and interpretation can be used against a hospital as argument for delivery complications. Reducing medical and legal risks is imperative given the average award size for malpractice involving fetal monitoring. This program will allow facilities to establish a program that changes behavior and outcomes, and reduces risks and complications associated with fetal monitoring.
Developed by Advanced Practice Strategies of Boston, Massachusetts, in collaboration with Hospital Corporation of America (HCA), the Advanced Fetal Monitoring & Assessment program focuses on best practices in electronic fetal heart monitoring (EFM), a key component of perinatal medicine. The program is divided into seven modules, each centered on a different area of EFM. All of the modules are case-based and include a wide range of ancillary resources such as expert opinions, animations, and links to papers. Courses were written and reviewed by well respected clinicians including Roger Freeman MD, FACOG and Bonnie Flood Chez RNC, MSN. 
This courseware allows facilities to improve their fetal monitoring practices by incorporating best practices recommended by ACOG and AWHONN, thus reducing the medical-legal risks associated with fetal monitoring.
