The Neonatal Resuscitation Program® (NRP®), developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), is an educational program that introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. The NRP Online Examination, 6th Edition assesses knowledge of the causes, prevention, and management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia.

Learners first study their neonatal resuscitation program, 6th Edition textbook which includes an interactive, multi-media DVD-ROM, forms the basic educational component of the program and is available for purchase from the AAP Online Bookstore. After studying the NRP textbook, learners take the online examination via HealthStream. Upon successful completion of the online examination, learners will print the verification of completion and present it to their NRP instructor for in-person skills training, simulation, and debriefing.

What People Are Saying

  • "With Value-Based Purchasing as a key to reimbursement, the patient’s entire experience, including quality services, is key to increasing the bottom line."

  • "We believe that the program’s future success and the lives of newborns touched by its participants are best served by allowing instructors to spend as much time as possible working hands-on with participants by utilizing self-directed education for the cognitive portion of the course. We hope that our instructors and participants will find that the new online written examination helps to accomplish this goal."
