Save Newborn Lives

NEONATAL ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (NALS)

In the face of the United States' growing maternity desert crisis, the urgency for life-saving neonatal care extends far beyond the confines of traditional hospital settings. Recognizing the critical need for widespread neonatal advanced life support (NALS) expertise, the American Red Cross, in partnership with the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), proudly introduces a comprehensive NALS training program. This initiative is specifically designed to equip healthcare professionals across various disciplines—including nurses, physicians, physicians assistants, respiratory therapists, and EMS providers—with the essential skills and knowledge to significantly improve neonatal outcomes.

The NALS Difference

  • Broadened Reach: Our mission goes beyond the delivery room and NICU. By targeting maternity deserts, we aim to extend the reach of neonatal resuscitation training to emergency departments, birthing centers, and emergency medical services (EMS), ensuring that healthcare providers in all settings are well-prepared to respond to neonatal emergencies.
  • Innovating eLearning Methods: The NALS (Comprehensive) course leverages cutting-edge eLearning techniques, including adaptive learning and real-life case scenarios, to provide healthcare professionals with a tailored learning experience that fosters critical thinking and application of knowledge in various clinical situations.
  • Unmatched Science: Developed in alignment with the highest standards of scientific excellence, our NALS courses incorporate the five principles of high-reliability organizations, supported by the latest evidence-based science from the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), the Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council, and AWHONN. This ensures that every participant receives the most current, impactful training available.
