The mental health crisis for healthcare workers isn’t going away. In fact, it’s growing. A recent study from American Hospital Association found that 93% of health care workers reported stress, 86% reported anxiety, 77% reported frustration, 76% reported exhaustion and burnout, and 75% said they were overwhelmed. Without a support system, employees are left to manage their mental health on their own. For some, they never manage their mental health at all.

Deryk Van Brunt, DrPH, MPH – CEO, CredibleMind

Dr. Van Brunt is Clinical Professor of Health Informatics at the University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health, CEO of CredibleMind, Inc., and President of the Healthy Communities Foundation. Van Brunt teaches Health Informatics with a focus on clinical, personal and community health information systems, and conducts research in the area of individual and community health information systems in the areas of (1) mental, emotional and spiritual health, (2) chronic care management, and (3) improving population health.

CredibleMind provides an information system to organizations such as employers, health plans, hospitals and health departments, to improve the mental health and emotional wellbeing of the populations they serve. CredibleMind works upstream and focuses on early intervention and prevention of mental health and promotes flourishing and emotional wellbeing.

Van Brunt was a member of President Obama’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology Systems Health Care Working Group, and a contributor to the Report to the President: Better Health Care and Lower Costs (May 2014). Van Brunt’s community health information system was the 2012 winner of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services “Best Community Application” Award, and the 2011 winner of the Health and Human Services MyHealthyPeople Award.

Dr. Van Brunt has overseen the creation, development, and evaluation of clinical and patient-centered information systems implemented in over 500 healthcare and public health institutions. He received his MPH in Epidemiology and Biostatistics and DrPH in Health Informatics from the University of California at Berkeley
