Five Guidelines for Building or Enhancing Your Nurse Residency Program

It is estimated that as many as 80% of healthcare organizations have some sort of program that helps new nurse graduates transition into practice, but they are not all created equal. Given the unrelenting pressures relating to the recruitment and retention of nurses and perhaps the even greater threat currently being faced as a result of the pandemic, it is critical to build the kind of nurse residency program that will help new and transitioning nurses to succeed and to help them build real confidence in their skills as they transition to practice. So, what are some guidelines about the tools that your program needs?

Five Guidelines for Assembling Your Nurse Residency Program

As you plan to create a new nurse residency program or look for ways to supplement your existing program, what are the most important considerations?

1. Include What Matters in Your Content
